CONSULTATIONS
Prior to confirming a booking, we will arrange a mutually convenient date/time to meet you and your animals. The meet will provide you with an opportunity to get to know us, ask any questions, go over necessary paperwork and clarify anything. Importantly it also gives your animals a chance to meet us in advance of a potential stay. There is no charge for the consultation and you're under no pressure or obligation to use our services.
GENERAL - TERMS & CONDITIONS
- All clients that make bookings with Dr. Doelittle Animal Services will be deemed to have accepted Dr. Doelittle Animal Services T&C’s as laid out here at the time of booking.
- Dr. Doelittle Animal Services will not confirm any booking until a consultation has been carried out with the client with full details of the client’s requirements.
- Dr. Doelittle Animal Services will hold provisional bookings for a maximum of 21 days. This allows sufficient time for a pre-meet/consultation and/or for a deposit to be paid to secure the booking. In periods of high demand, we may reduce the amount of time a provisional booking will be held for, but in this event, the client will be notified accordingly.
- The client must provide all items necessary for pets to be adequately cared for in the client’s absence (food, medication, leads, tags, collars etc). Should pets require any additional supplies whilst in the care of Dr. Doelittle Animal Services, these will be purchased and charged to the client.
- The client must provide Dr. Doelittle Animal Services with the name and contact number of two people capable of making a decision relating to the pet(s) in an emergency. If the contacts are not available, Dr. Doelittle Animal Services reserves the right to consult with a vet and make a decision based on the best interest of the animal. Dr. Doelittle Animal Services are not liable for any of the vets’ fees and any fees must be settled either directly with the vet at the time of the treatment, or immediately upon the clients return.
- Dr. Doelittle Animal Services must be alerted to any medical or behavioural problems with your pets at the time of consultation. Dr. Doelittle Animal Services request that the client notify them of any changes in the animals’ behaviour or health.
- Mileage within 10 km of La Guittiere is free, mileage beyond 10 km of La Guittiere is €0.60 per km
- Should the client return from holiday early and terminate the service before the end of the booked period, the client will not be entitled to any refund of payments.
- Dr. Doelittle Animal Services will make every reasonable effort to keep all animals safe and well however whilst every possible care is taken of each animal, we cannot be held responsible for loss from illness/accident. Dogs can present a level of risk including but not limited to injuries to people, property and animals despite best efforts. Dr. Doelittle Animal Services cannot therefore be held liable for any illness, injury, damage or loss incurred.
- The client will be financially responsible for any damage to property whilst their animals are in our boarding or day care facility.
- Photographs and digital recordings are taken by Dr. Doelittle Animal Services for a range of purposes. All such material remains the property of Dr. Doelittle Animal Services. If a client wishes for their animal not to be recorded in such material, the client should advise us at the time of booking.
- Clients animals may be transported in our vehicle on occasion. Large numbers of animals would never be transported together and adequate restraint and space will always be provided.
PAYMENT
- Dr. Doelittle Animal Services accepts cash, cheques or bank transfer (please ask for bank details).
- A 25% deposit of the total sum due is payable to Dr. Doelittle Animal Services at the time of booking. The remaining balance is due on the first date of the service commencing.
- Where payment is not received in accordance with these terms and conditions of business, Dr. Doelittle Animal Services reserves the right not to proceed with any previously agreed arrangements.
CANCELLATIONS
- In the event of cancellations that are notified to us at least 14 days prior to the start of the booking period, all fees including the deposit will be returned or at the client’s request can be held over for a subsequent booking.
- Any bookings that are cancelled less than 14 days before the start date of the booking, the 25% deposit will be held and will not be refunded. The deposit is not transferable to another booking in this situation.
- If Dr. Doelittle Animal Services cannot provide the service agreed, we will do our best to arrange an alternative, unless in extreme circumstances, where we will endeavour to give as much notice as possible.
DOG BOARDING & DAY CARE - TERMS & CONDITIONS
- All dogs must be fully vaccinated and on a regular flea and worm control regime.
- For dog boarding and day care, your dog must be neutered.
- If medication is to be administered, clear instructions must be given during the consultation and an authorisation signature is required.
- Check in and check out time for the dog boarding service are between the hours of 09:00-20:00. Dog day care services are provided between 09:00-17:00.
- Pet boarding services are charged on a per day basis, which includes the first and last day of the booking period.
- Clients are welcome to provide toys for their animals but we cannot guarantee to return them in the condition in which they arrived, if at all and they are therefore at the owners’ risk.
- Dr. Doelittle Animal Services will properly dispose of pet waste, however the client shall ensure there is an appropriate supply of bags for that purpose.
- The client shall provide sufficient food (with instructions detailing the normal feeding regime) and any treats for their pet(s) for the duration of the service.
- Animals in our care may on occasion be left unattended for up to 4 hours. Animals may however be left unattended for shorter periods of time more frequently.
- Boarding animals will only be released to a third party where clear arrangements have been agreed between Dr. Doelittle Animal Services and the client accordingly in advance.
- For boarding it is expected that dogs will be sociable and therefore able to mix with other dogs and people at Dr. Doelittle Animal Services. Dogs from different households will be separated when not supervised for a period of time, including night time.
- Dogs from the same household will be expected to be kept together even when not under supervision.
- As a general rule, all dogs will be exercised daily receiving a minimum of 30 minutes’ exercise twice daily unless there are exceptional circumstances e.g. extreme weather conditions. Individual exercise needs will be discussed at the time of booking, in accordance with the clients’ requirements.
AGGRESSIVE ANIMALS
- Dr. Doelittle Animal Services will not accept to look after aggressive dogs.
- The client agrees to be responsible for all costs (including but not limited to medical care, legal fees, etc) if the client’s pet(s) should bite another animal or person.
- Client agrees that on booking services for their dog(s) that they have clearly and accurately detailed any known aggression or harm, or threatening behaviour to any individual and/or animal caused by the named dog. The client agrees to contact the provider as soon as possible if any of these behavioural changes presents itself or if it has the potential to cause harm to any individual or animal.
TRAINING - TERMS & CONDITIONS
- Dr. Doelittle animal services cannot guarantee specific training results because success is dependent on the severity of the animals behaviour problem and on the client’s ability to follow up on the plan.
- Harsh handling is not permitted during training and is strongly discouraged at any other time. Choke chains, check chains, prong collars, punitive methods and manhandling will not be allowed during dog training. Clients using heavy handed techniques or deemed to be mistreating their animals in any way will not be tolerated and will instantly be excluded from any further access to Dr. Doelittle animal services
- Dr. Doelittle animal services will endeavour to offer only sound, safe and responsible training and training instructions. Dr. Doelittle animal services is not responsible for any unintentional errors, omissions or incorrect assertions.
AGGRESSIVE ANIMALS
- The client agrees to be responsible for all costs (including but not limited to medical care, legal fees, etc) if the client’s pet(s) should bite another animal or person.
- Client agrees that on booking services for their dog(s) that they have clearly and accurately detailed any known aggression or harm, or threatening behaviour to any individual and/or animal caused by the named dog. The client agrees to contact the provider as soon as possible if any of these behavioural changes presents itself or if it has the potential to cause harm to any individual or animal.
- Dr. Doelittle Animal Services reserve the right to cancel or withdraw services at any time if necessary for the best interests of the animal, client or staff.
THE GENERAL DATA PROTECTION REGULATION (GDPR)
This Privacy Notice explains how we at Dr Doelittle Animal Services use any personal information we collect about you and your animals.
What information we collect about you?
We collect contact details for the client (address, e-mail and telephone number) and the designated emergency contacts. All relevant pet information is also taken on the pet registration form.
How is your data stored?
We keep all of our Dr Doelittle paperwork in a safe, confidential location. Paper documents these are stored in a locked filing cabinet and digital documents on a password protected laptop.
We will not share your information with any third party unless there is a legal reason for doing so.
How do we use the information we hold on you?
We will use your contact details to communicate with you regarding the upcoming booking and during the booking for animal updates. We also require vaccination, flea and worming information in order to ensure that your animals pose no risk to the other animals they come into contact with.
In the case of a problem arising we have up to date medical information and vet details so that whenever possible the animals usual vets are used.
Access to your information
